The DC Dictionary Project provides a Webster's dictionary to every 3rd grade student (approximately 5,500) and teacher in the District of Columbia's Public School System. The dictionary becomes the personal property of the student, who may take his or her dictionary home and use the book through the 12th grade.

In addition to helping students learn the correct spelling, pronunciation, definition, and uses of words, the book will assist them in developing their reading, writing and creative abilities.

The multiple-use dictionary includes basic information about our country, Presidents, and states, as well as interesting information about other countries, maps of world regions, and the full text of the United States Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

The dictionaries are distributed to third grade classes by Washington, DC Rotarians. More.
